Barbados 24 Hours – 2025

Regulations

Teams and drivers: -

  • Teams should be 6 to 10 drivers.

  • Any team that wishes to run less drivers must sign a waver that they take full responsibility for their team and any medical requirements. Cole Clarke Racing and Bushy Park will not be held liable.

  • Each team must pay a joining fee when signing up (this is not a deposit for your place on the grid)

  • Each team must provide details for each of their drivers that will be racing.

  • Drivers Must be 16 and above but may enter under that age if they hold an ARKS licence or above or any other proof that they will be able to drive safely. Parents must sign a waver that they are happy for their child to enter the event and are fully aware of the environment and conditions that their child is about to enter.

  • Drivers must have their own race gear with ankle supporting boots. Any driver that requires race gear will need to advise Cole Clarke Racing and we can arrange for suite and helmet but must advise no later than the June 1st before the event. This may be charged.

  • Teams may have a maximum of 6 helpers in the garage.

  • All team members need to ensure they are getting enough water and have enough sun block for the event.

  • All team members and their roll must be advised prior to the event.

  • All team members must complete a safety briefing.

Awnings: -

  • Teams may have awnings at the back of the garage

  • Teams are responsible for taking their own awnings and flags that they wish to display.

  • The ground is hard standing and will require sufficient weights to hold the awnings / flags down.

  • Any cables or lines need to be covered to avoid any trip hazards.

  • The use of gas stoves and gas equipment for cooking in the garage is strictly forbidden.

Tents: -

  • You may bring your own tents for the night of the 24 hour race only.

  • Please be aware that you are in Barbaos and it will be hot at night.

Pit Lane And Paddock: -

  • Each driver must weigh in each day to a minimum of 65kg with kit

  • There will be no ballast on the karts

  • Any weight adjustments will be through the drivers own weighted seat

  • All drivers must adhere to the pit lane speed limit of 10 MPH at all times.

  • Speeding in the pit lane will be a stop and go penalty.

  • Team members may stand on the pit wall.

  • There is no gaps on the pit wall for any pit boards to be used.

  • Any abuse towards marshals and officials will not be tolerated and could result in the exclusion from the race (there would be no refund or compensation if excluded).

  • Flip flops and sandals are forbidden in the pit area.

  • There should be no dogs or prams in the pit area.

  • All children should be full supervised at all times. This is a racing environment. Cole Clarke Racing and Bushy Park hold no liability for children in the paddock area.

  • It is the responsibility for the team captain / manager to ensure that drivers are not left in karts for a period of time that may cause harm to the driver and or other competitors. Barbados is in the Caribbean and there is a risk of dehydration in the conditions. Any team found to have a driver on track (or taken to the medical centre within 10 mins of exiting the kart) with dehydration may be disqualified from the event. There would be no refunds or compensation for disqualification.

  • Other than restarting the engine, adding sponsors stickers and any lights you are not permitted to make any alterations to the kart.

  • Any Kart that runs out of fuel may be recovered back to the pits refuelled and permitted to continue.

  • It is up to the team to decide when they wish to refuel. If a team wishes to put less fuel in the kart the a member of the must notify they fuel bay before the kart enters the fuel bay.

  • The choice for wet tyres is at the race directors and organisers discretion only.

  • It is each team members responsibility to ensure that they know the flags and follow the flag instructions.

  • Teams may place any sponsorship stickers on the kart, but must retain the CCR, Bushy Park and title sponsors logo on the kart.

  • The kart number 1 is reserved for the previous years winner only (should they wish to use it).

  • You may only smoke in the designated area including vapes. Smoking in the garage and on track is strictly forbidden at any time during the event including set up and track walks.

  • Fuel Bay: -

  • Engines must be turned off when re-fuelling and can be restarted at the designated point.

  • The engine must be turned off before entering the fuel bay.

  • A memer of the pit crew may assist the driver and push the kart off the fuel bay

  • The kart can only be restarted at the designated point.

  • You may only restart the engin in the designated area or outside your garage.

  • Impeding other teams in the engine restart area may result in a penalty.

  • Teams are not permitted to put fuel into the karts.

  • Drivers may remove and replace the petrol cap but must be securly put back on. This is the teams resposibility.

  • Drivers may have 1 team member assist with the refuel and restart process.

  • The assisting team member must wear gloves when assisting the driver.

  • When restarting the engine there must be a driver sat in the seat with their foot on the break. Failure to do so will result in a penalty.

  • You will be responsible for lubricating the chain at each fuel stop.

  • No driver changes in the fuel bay.

Driver Changeover: -

  • Driver changes may only take place at the team garage front.

  • Driver changes to be made on drivers left of the kart and not into the flow of traffic.

  • You may have as many team members as you wish to assist a driver when at the pit garage only.

  • Drivers are not permitted to accelerate until they have reached the end of the pit exit road.

  • Any teams found to be impeding another team in the pit lane (blocking, team members not allowing other teams to get to garage etc) will face a penalty.

  • It is the team managers responsibility to ensure that all drivers are dressed correctly and helmet is fastened correctly before leaving the pit lane. Failure to have a driver correctly dressed and helmet on securely will result in the team captain / manager being called to a meeting where appropriate action will be taken. CCR and Bushy Park will take no liability for drivers that are injured and found to be inadequately dressed for racing.

  • Tinted visors may not be used after and before the appointed times. Any driver with the incorrect visor will be called into the pit lane for a penalty and change of visor.

  • It is forbidden to throw any items in the pit lane.

  • The team manager must ensure that the outgoing driver has:

1. No scarf or hoodie on

2. Long hair is tucked away, securely tied and under a balaclava

3. Wearing 2 driver’s gloves

4. Shoes are tied

  • Speeding in the pit lane (10 MPH) will result in a penalty.

  • Should the kart move from your garage without a driver correctly dresed you will receive a drive though penalty, the driver will be required to correct the problem and no driver change is permitted. Should this happen more than once then further action will be taken.

  • When rejoining the track you must ensure that you are not pulling into oncoming traffic and check the track for a safe exit of the pit lane.

Mechanical breakdowns and recoveries: -

  • Should your driver spin off they are free to rejoin the race at a safe time to do so. Do not rejoin into oncoming traffic.

  • Should you stall the kart you are to await a marshal to come and restart the engine for you while on track. You must remain in the kart unless instructed by a marshal.

  • If you are restarting the kart you must keep the kart between you and the oncoming traffic.

  • Should you come to a stop on the track you must stay in the kart until it is safe to get out and move the kart to a safe place, or await for a marshal to come and assist.

  • Should your kart not restart you must wait for a marshal, follow their instructions until a recovery comes and takes your kart and driver away (unless otherwise instructed by the marshal).

  • The driver must remain with the kart (unless instructed by the marshal).

  • The driver should not cross the track.

  • In the event of a fire the driver must get behind the barrier and allow the marshals to safely deal with the fire.

  • Any damage caused to the kart due to driving standards, kerbing or malicious acts the team will be liable for the repairs to the kart (not excluding replacement of the kart).

  • The kart will be recovered to the maintenance bay where they will try and repair the issue. Should this not be possible a replacement kart may be issued.

  • Other than restarting the engine the driver is not permitted to make any adjustments to the karts.

  • You are not permitted to enter the track to assist in the recovery of any kart regardless of the situation.

Maintenance Bay: -

  • No member of the team is permitted in the maintenance garage at any time.

  • Should the maintenance bay be working on another kart they will deal with karts in order of arrival to the garage.

  • During a wet tyre change priority will be given to the tyre changes and tyres will be changed for the kart in the maintenance bay before being released back to the team.

  • Any abuse to the maintenance bay crew will result in a penalty to the team and the crew will move their attention to the next kart as priority and return to yours after.

  • While the kart is in maintenance a team member may take fluid to the driver waiting.

  • When leaving maintenance you may not restart your kart until you reach the designated point.

  • Drivers and 1 member of the team must stay in the designated area while work is carried out.

  • A member of the maintenance crew will speak to the driver for details of the issue.

  • Work will be carried out in order of arrival.

  • You are not permitted to refuel after a maintenance stop, unless the issue was that you ran out of fuel. You must complete the 1 lap and come back into the pits.

Start Procedure: -

  • All karts will be lined up in grid order at the side of the track.

  • Only the driver and 1 team member may be present after the 15 minute warning. All team members must clear the track. This is to start the engine.

  • You are not permitted to make any alterations to the kart.

  • Prior to the 15 min warning you take team photos.

  • Notice will be given for drivers to get into the karts

  • The team member must ensure the driver has all the correct race wear on shoes fastened and helmet securely fastened.

  • The instruction for the team member to start the engine will be given.

  • The karts will pull away behind a pace kart in grid order

  • The pace kart will peel off into the pit lane and the karts can get into grid formation (no overtaking).

  • The race will be started by the lights and the waving of the Barbados flag.

  • You may not overtake until you have passed the start finish line or may receive a penalty.

  • If there is a red flag you will follow the red flag procedure and go to the pit lane.

Practice sessions: -

  • Karts will be allocated on the Monday afternoon. You may start making your kart up once assigned.

  • There will be the option of a separate practice sessions. This is to be booked separately and is not part of event sessions.

  • You will be using your allocated kart and will be permitted to take to the maintenance bay to resolve any issues. You must be clear on the issue.

  • Any damaged caused to the kart may affect your starting position on the Wednesday.

  • There will be the allocated practice session on the Tuesday before qualifying.

  • All drivers must complete 5 laps in one of these sessions to qualify.

  • Should you have a driver not qualify you need to speak with the organisers as to the reasons and a review may be granted (it is not a guarantee they will be cleared to drive)

  • Any teams that have to drop a driver below 6 must sign the waver of the advised 6 drivers, regardless of reasons.

Qualifying: -

  • There will be a 20 min qualifying session

  • You may change the driver if you choose

  • The fastest lap will determine your grid position.

  • If a driver has failed to complete 5 laps in practice at the race directors discretion they may take their laps here. You must put your appeal in to the race director you cannot just put your driver out.

  • Any penalties incurred during practice and qualifying will be given in the form of grid place penalties at the start of the race.

Racing Rules

Teams

  • All teams are to be between 6 and 10 drivers (unless signing the waver and accepting the full responsibility of the drivers and team members).

  • All team members must sign the sign on documentation for the event.

  • All team members must complete one of the briefings.

  • All drivers that sign on to drive must complete 5 laps in one of the practice sessions to qualify to drive in the main event. Dispensations may be given to drivers that have any delays in arriving but notify the organisers 2 weeks prior to the event.

  • Other dispensations may be granted should the driver not be able complete practice due to weather conditions or kart issues causing the team to not have enough time to complete.

  • Each dispensation will be taken on a case by case basis.

  • Drivers must be 16 or over to enter.

  • Drivers may enter under the age of 16 but must hold an ARKS or ARDS licence.

  • Any driver under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian present with them throughout the event. The parent or guardian will be responsible for the wellbeing of the driver and will sign alongside the driver at sign on that they are able to drive and accept the risks and conditions for the driver to enter.

  • All team members are responsible for their own personal insurance and medical cover while they are entered into this event.

  • It is the responsibility of the team captain to ensure that all members of, the team have sufficient water and salt while entering the event.

  • It is the responsibility of the team captain to ensure all members of the team have sufficient sun cream being applied during the event.

  • All drivers must have full race gear, race overalls, gloves, balaclava, helmet, shoes with ankle support.

  • All driver visors must be clear visors by the allocated time. Any drivers failing to have changed will be called into the pits to change visor with no driver change permitted.

  • Any team found to be impeding another team in the pitlane or on track may receive a penalty.

  • Any abuse to organisers, marshals, stalls, staff and event guests will not be tolerated and the person may be removed from the event and site. The team will also face a penalty.

  • The team is responsible for clearing up all litter in their garage before leaving at the end of the day.

  • There is to be no cooking of any kind in the pitlane and or garage.

  • You may stand on the pit wall but ensure that is safe to cross the pit lane when it is live.

  • Speeding in the pit lane will receive a penalty.

  • There is no minimum or maximum amount of pit stops required.

  • Any member of the team found to be drinking alcohol or taking drugs during the event will be removed from site and the team will be given a penalty.

  • Only authorised team members are permitted in the pitlane. Authorised guests of the event may also be permitted in the pitlane throughout the event.

  • This event will be using full circuit flags. Drivers and teams are required to know the meanings of the flags. There will be no acceptance of “I did not know”.

  • It is the responsibility of the team captain to ensure that all members of the team get sufficient rest periods.

  • Cole Clarke Racing as the organisers advise that drivers work to a 1 hour stint due to the heat while racing in this event. Cole Clarke Racing will not be held responsible for any dehydration or incidents that occur due to dehydration.

  • Any children in the paddock or garage must be supervised at all times

  • Children are not permitted beyond the garage into the pit lane while the track is live.

Kart

  • Teams may place sponsors onto the kart but they must be in good taste, no political, abusive, suggestive, aggressive, sexual content are permitted on the kart.

  • You are not permitted to cover the Barbados flag on any decorations, the flag must be kept clear at all times. The same applies to the Cole Clarke Racing Logo.

  • You are not permitted to alter the tyre pressures and any attempt to do so will result in a penalty.

  • You may add lights to the kart but these must be battery powered and stick on.

  • Lights must be non flashing or changing of colour.

  • Karts will be allocated at random.

  • If any damage is done to the karts at the fault of driving standards the team will be held liable and may be charged for the repairs.

  • You must report any technical issues with the kart during the practice sessions. Issues must be made clear. Reports of the kart is rubbish, the kart is slow is not a clear explanation and the kart may be handed back to you without being seen.

  • Once the chequered flag has fallen at the end of the day the karts will be placed in storage over night and you may not approach the kart until given back to you the following day.

  • You may ask to change to wet tyres ahead of any known weather expected. The kart will be serviced in order of existing karts in maintenance. Red flag procedure will still need to be followed in the event of tropical rain.

  • You may choose to change back to dry tyres ahead of the call to change. Your kart will be serviced in the order of karts into the maintenance bay.

  • If your kart is being serviced or repaired during a wet weather tyre change then the tyre change will take priority and maintenance bay will be close other than the tyre changes. Your tyres will be changed to the required tyres before the kart is returned to you.

  • You may not do any repairs to the kart.

  • Should you end up in the gravel you will be required to go immediately to the maintenance bay for a service check and gravel to be removed. Your Kart will be serviced in the order of karts in maintenance.

  • Cole Clarke Racing will do all they can to ensure all karts are equal. No refunds or compensation shall be given due to kart performance or mechanical issues that may arise.

  • Cole Clarke Racing will not provide any details of how long fuel will last this is for your team to manage.

  • Any kart that runs out of fuel will be recovered and re-fuelled and allowed to continue.

  • Karts will be handed to you with a full tank of fuel at the start of each day. The karts will be fuelled before qualifying.

  • You may attach Go Pro cameras to the karts. Not to yoiur persons.

  • You may use GoPro cameras but CCR will hold no liability for injury to the driver or damage to the camera.

  • Any assistance with the driver by the team pit crew must be done with gloves on.

  • Should the kart be required to be re-started in the pit lane you may do so.

  • Mechanical Failure

  • From time-to-time karts may develop issues that can be from

1) Mechanical wear and tear

2) Damage due to incorrect driving

3) Accidental damage due to an incident

  • We will endeavour to repair your kart as quickly as possible, please follow the system below.

1) Enter the pits and drive to the mechanics bay.

2) Pull into the designated area

3) Get out of the kart and remove your helmet

4) Communicate clearly what is happening to the kart to the member of staff, (kart is pulling to the left/right, the engine is making a funny noise, the breaks are not working correctly). If you have mechanical knowledge you may be able to advise in more specific detail to better diagnose the problem.

  • Your kart will then be taken to be reviewed by the mechanics, should they require any more details they will ask you.

  • You will be asked to stand in a designated area. 1 member of your pit crew may take water to the driver but must ensure that they take the water back with them, regardless if it is empty.

Crash Damage

  • Crash damage will be fixed using the same procedure as for the mechanical failure.

  • Most damage comes from:

i) The chain coming off

ii) Damage to the sprocket

iii) Damage to the break disc guard

iv) Damage to the engine mounts

This would mainly occur due to kerbing

We will allow the benefit of the doubt for the kart on the first instance but should your kart return with similar problems (regardless of a different driver) you will be summoned to race control to be spoken to about driving standards and may receive a penalty and held liable to the repair cost.

  • Start Procedure

  • Karts will be lined up in grid order at the side of the track.

  • The pit crew may join the drivers in the build up

  • 5 mins to go and all but the driver and 1 pit member must be on the grid for the start. The pit member is there to assist in the event of stalling at the lead off.

  • Music will start and the karts can be started.

  • The drivers will then enter the karts.

  • The pace kart will lead off the karts that will follow single file leading off 1 at a time.

  • Once the karts have cleared the grid pit crew must return to the pits immediately.

  • The karts will stay in single file no overtaking for 1 lap.

  • The pace kart will peel off into the pit lane at the end of the lap.

  • The karts will get into grid formation (no overtaking).

  • The lights will go out and the Barbados flag will be waved.

  • Karts may then accelerate but may not overtake until they have passed the start finish line.

  • Any kart that spins during the start procedure will be able to rejoin at the back of the grid as their new starting place.

  • Any kart found to jump the start will face a penalty.

  • You need to await a marshal to restart a stalled engine.

Red Flag Procedure

  • In the event of a red flag drivers must

  • Slow down immediately to half racing speed and be prepared to stop

  • All karts in order that they arrive regardless of position must exit the track down the pit lane, drive through the pits and stop at the pit exit holding area.

  • 1 member of the pit crew may take water to the driver, and return the water regardless if empty to their garage.

  • Should you not be able to pass the incident you must come to a stop before the incident allowing access for medical crew and or recovery crew. You will be given instructions by the marshals.

  • Once the track has been made safe you will be released back to the track under full course yellow conditions for 1 lap, no overtaking.

  • Karts will remain in single file until they pass the start / finish line and where they will be released to resume racing.

  • Should you need fuel during this process may go to the fuel bay but the pit lane will be closed while under red flag conditions and re-fuel will not start until the racing has resumed.

  • If you were due to make a driver change and no fuel you will not be permitted to stop at your garage under red flag conditions as a result you will have to complete the restart lap and then re-enter the pits for your driver change.

  • If you were re-fuelling and in a queue at the red flag, you may complete a driver change after the re-fuel once the race has resumed.

  • If your kart is in involved in the incident that caused the red flag, your kart will be recovered to the maintenance bay for a check over and or repairs.

  • Chequered Flag

  • The chequered flag will be displayed to the team that has completed the greatest number of laps after 24 hours when they cross the start finish line for the last time.

  • As each kart passes the start finish line they must slow to half racing speed.

  • The 3 podium karts will return to the start finish line while all other karts will return to the pit entrance holding bay.

  • We will aim to get the podium under way within 20 to 30 mins of the last kart into the pit lane.

  • Doughnuts, wheel spinning and stopping on your slow down lap is prohibited as other karts may still be racing at this time.

  • Should there be any penalties that are under review we will aim to be completed before the podium takes place.

  • Should any karts have an incident once they have taken the chequered flag they will face a penalty.

  • If you run out of fuel after taking the chequered flag please remain in your kart and await instructions from a marshal.

  • Flag Boundaries

  • In the event of a yellow flag you may not overtake once you have passed the yellow flag.

  • If you have not completed an overtake before the yellow flag you must give the place to the kart that is being overtaken. The overtake must be completed.

  • Under the yellow flags you can not claim half kart lengths or racing lines you must be clearly in front before you pass the yellow flag.

  • To restart racing on the green flag you may do so upon passing the incident and seeing the green flag. You may accelerate before the flag as long as you have passed the incident and can see the green flag, no overtaking before the green flag.

Sporting Conduct

  • Any abuse towards the event organisers, marshals, vendors, guests and staff at the venue will not be tolerated and you may be removed from the event and the team will face a penalty.

  • Any abuse towards another team will not be tolerated and you may be removed from the event.

  • If you are using hand signals to speak to your pit crew ensure that the signals cannot be misleading for other competitors and officials.

  • Any impeding of other competitors (in the pit lane or on track) may result in a penalty.

  • Weaving on the track is only permitted during green the flag lap. Weaving to prevent an overtake by a faster kart may face a penalty as this is classed at impeding. You may move to block once.

  • Advantage by contact is forbidden and you must give the place back (regardless of position, IE if you are the lead kart overtaking a back marker and you hit the back marker out of the way, you must give the place back). Mitigating circumstances may require a review and evidence.

  • Any penalty must be served within 3 laps.

  • Any decisions made are final and case closed.

  • You must follow the instructions of the marshals and officials at all times.

  • Any abusive or misleading social media posts against the event, sponsors, venue and all personnel is prohibited and may result in exclusion from the event.

Any drive through penalties the race director may add a stop, go time to this at their own discretion including the length of the stationary time.

Drivers and or team members may be called to the race directors office at any time. If the driver is in the kart they must enter the pit lane and report to the directors office as instructed (this may be at the end of a stint or immediately).

The race director may remove anyone from the event if they deem necessary.

Unable To Qualify

In the event that qualifying should be cancelled due to weather or any other reason, qualifying shall move to the morning of the race and taken from the best times of the practice session.

In the event that qualifying should not be completed or able to run or the morning practice session, then the starting grid shall be determined by the fastest laps from the extra practice session(s). Should this be the case, any team that was unable to make the extra practice session will have their grid position determined by the order of sign on, to make up the rest of the grid. The fastest laps will make the front of the grid and the order of sign on grid position will be determined after the last completed time of the practice session.
